The Grand Unveiling

On August 29th, 2025 Anodos Academy was unveiled at the historic Washington School in Osage, IA.

Founders Derek and Jessica Balsley, along with honored guests including Pastor Steven White of Life Church and His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael Symeonides of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Chicago, plus around 100 community members, gathered at the historic Washington School for the unveiling of Anodos Academy—the first Christian center of education in Mitchell County in more than a decade.

The event included a tour of the newly remodeled classroom, fellowship with families, local pastors/priests, Iowa Senator Doug Campbell, and His Eminence Metropolitan Nathaniel of Chicago. Together, we celebrated not only the planned restoration of a beloved building, but also the rebirth of Christian education in our community.

Children once again ran through the halls of Washington School, filling the space with laughter, purpose, and promise. With over 60 homeschool students already enrolled and growing interest from across the county, Anodos Academy is just beginning its mission: helping the next generation rediscover meaning, faith, and the joy of learning.

The future is bright. The doors of Washington School are open once again.
